My Mama's Love was at the event and I had a wonderful time. In addition to representing my own products, I also brought a product called Party Art. I recently found Party Art--and while it's not eco-friendly--it is a fantastic party or family activity that I instantly fell in love with. I asked the owner, Haley Pendergraft, if I could take her product with me to the fair, and she said yes.The reason I love this product is because it's unique and it gives an occasion a lasting memory. I really enjoy seeing what other mom entrepreneurs are doing and giving credit where credit is due. Sarah, owner of My Sweet Baby, is one of the mom entrepreneurs I am very impressed by. I am Leslie, the owner of My Mama’s Love. I am married and have a beautiful daughter; we live in the Pacific Northwest. I’m originally from Spokane, WA.

Healthy Kids and Green Parenting Fair - Saturday, March 20th

Mark your calendars and tell your friends about the upcoming Healthy Kids and Green Parenting Fair, sponsored by the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. This year's fair will be held on Saturday, March 20th, 2010. It will be in the auditorium at the South Park Community Center (4851 South Tacoma Way) and will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.

The fair is a place to learn about protecting your child from toxins in the environment, and to find resources to help you make healthier, greener choices, like safer toys and personal care products, natural yard care, organic foods, cloth diapers, breastfeeding, and babywearing. We will have free lead testing of toys and other consumer products as well as free blood lead testing for children and pregnant or nursing moms. I wanted to send you some before and after pics of my son’s leg. We just recently moved to Twin Falls, Idaho and have been battling my son’s sensitive skin and the hard water we have here. Lip Balm Trial

If you're not a fan on Facebook, you missed out on our most recent giveaway: 250 jars of lip balm. My Mama's Love is testing two new lip balm flavors: Vanilla and Vanilla-Mint. My personal favorite is Vanilla-Mint, and the feedback has been all positive on this one. I'm pretty sure we'll be adding this to the line shortly, but am waiting to get a little more feedback first.

Personally, I don't like the vanilla, but vanilla has never really been my thing. Not a lot of feedback has come in on it, so the jury is still out. I'll keep you posted.

His skin has been itchy since he was about 10 months old, so he was constantly scratching. All the doctors we have seen say it's eczema, but they weren't dry patches, his skin is just extremely dry. I recently sent a box of products and lengthy thank-you letter to Mothering Magazine. I thought I'd share with you why Mothering is so special to me.

When I first had my daughter, I had it all planned out. I knew exactly how things would look--I read about it! She'd sleep through the night at 3 months, she'd nurse on schedule, she'd sleep in her own bed. I was going to be in complete control. Of course, I would have my pre-baby body back by 3 months too, but that's off-topic.

Well, along came baby and boom, crash, errrrrr! Hmm, she has a mind of her own. Not sure I remember reading about that! Now what? I was letting her sleep with me. I was nursing non-stop and on-demand, I was holding her all the time. OH NO, I was spoiling her! But if I didn't she'd cry, she wouldn't sleep and she seemed to need to nurse non-stop. I felt like a failure! I felt scared! I was ruining my baby!

At an appointment to see a lactation consultant, after a long sob in the bathroom, I discovered a Mothering magazine. Some angel had donated them to the clinic. I grabbed one, and being the overachieving parent I desired to be, I read everything on parenting I could get my hands on. I devoured it. Slowly, but surely, like being hit by a train going in slow-motion, it dawned on me ... there are OTHERS like me out there! They have a name for what I'm doing, it's called attachment parenting. It's called co-sleeping, it's called trusting yourself and your child. You mean, I'm not crazy? You mean, I'm not alone? You mean, nobody is going to call CPS on me for letting my baby sleep with me. WHAT? I love you!

I quickly ordered a subscription and pretty much every back issue I could get my hands on. Suddenly, my instincts had a voice. My gut felt freed. The knots were gone! It felt amazing! While what I was doing felt right, it went against every "professional" opinion I'd ever read about. I just assumed I was wrong!

Since that day, I've felt confident, assured and safe to be the parent that I am meant to be. I feel right listening to my daughter and to my heart. It is to date the most life-changing thing that has happened to me. I am so grateful to Mothering magazine for their dedication to journalism, parenting and supporting moms.

My Mama's Love would like to introduce its newest product: Mama Nose Best. It's Vicks, without the "ick". A natural, petroleum-free decongestant for stuffy noses and congested breathing. Just in time for cold and flu season!

We initially intended to make a one-size-fits-all product. However, we found that two was necessary. Little noses need less than big noses. Therefore, we have created Mama Nose Best and Mama Nose Best-Kids. The adult version has twice the concentration of essential oils than the adult version. We felt the adult version was a little too aromatic for children, hence the two versions. Problem solved!

Both products are available at Hyena Cart, but only the adult version on our main website. We expect to have the Kid version online before the first of the year.

My Mama's Love is creating an album of before and after pictures. If your photos meet our criteria, we are willing to pay $25.00, or $40.00 in products for the use of them.

Criteria:

1. Photos must be clear and of good quality. They cannot be out of focus, blurry or too small.
2. Must be willing to release the use of the photo to My Mama's Love for any and all marketing material, website or advertising use, indefinitely.
3. Must be before and after pictures of rashes, skin conditions or burns that were helped by a My Mama's Love product. Please specify what product you used.

Eastside Family Fair favorites

I knew moms were pretty amazing, but today I was blown away. At the Eastside Family Fair, a fair mainly consisting of mompreneuers and green products, I met so many creative, intelligent, talented, professional moms. None of whom lacked love for their children, as a matter of fact, much like me, started their business for that very love of their child. I was brought to tears with a few of their stories. Like me, many of the moms I met today had special-needs children, many share a similar story of being alone in their plight to help and heal their child. Several cried with me as we re-lived hard times, criticism and cruel or false judgements. I have so much respect for these women, and so much love. So, getting back on topic....sorry! I wanted to share my favorites of the show. Some I have photos of, others I dropped the ball on. I am adding their website and information, too.

Kat is the lady you want on YOUR team and NOT the other. She is the business woman we all wish we could be. She is perfect at handling the delicate task of managing a hundred mompreneurs (need I repeat..managing a hundred women). A few of Kat's juggling skills: suggesting networking opportunities to mompreneurs, getting donations for events, organizing events, running a business, handling staff and just being superwoman. Most of us would be frazzled by 1/4 the work Kat does, but she makes it look like making cake in an easy-bake-oven. I'm so thankful to have met her, and even more thankful to be on her team.

Bryn Riekstins, LMP is one fearless mama. She is often seen
giving massages with her precious little boy upon her back. She likes to nurture other mamas and, I must say, she gives an amazing massage. Bryn recently started making quirky, fun, unique clothing as well, and I hope to see a website up with some of her creations soon.

I'm surprised I haven't heard of this resource beofore; I seem to be on most of the mommy-talk sites. City Mommy is local, it's moms from Seattle and the surrounding area. I love talking to moms online, finding people who share my parenting style and have similar parenting trials and tribulations, however, I am forever virtual-b.f.f with so many moms I may never meet; it's depressing. I love the idea of chatting with moms that I may actually be able to see face to face at some point. Not to mention, it's a great city guide, too. Love it!

This is how far the money raised, plus money the family has been able to contribute themselves, has taken them. They are again without resources to move on and a roof is essential before winter hits. I am so grateful to those of you that have contributed to this project and so proud to be a part of a community that reaches out to those in need and helps. I get goosebumps every time I receive a donation for this family because I know times are tough for most of us and that giving requires even more of a sacrifice these days than it did five years ago. Dear friends,

My Mama's Love is devoted to helping those in need, I feel we're all connected and have a moral and spiritual obligation to help out where we can. Times are hard and I am seeing more people in need than I have ever witnessed before. It breaks my heart. I feel compelled to help in whatever capacity I can.

My random act of kindness # 54 is more than I can tackle alone and will take a community effort; you are the community I am reaching out to. I hope you will feel compelled to help in whatever capacity you can. Anything helps.

My current project is one that comes with a sense of urgency, it's for a family with dire housing needs. A little history on the family: a hard working mom, a hard working dad. Both laid off around the same time but working odd jobs as often as they can. They are doing anything and everything to make ends meet. This family is living in a collapsing mobile home, one that was only supposed to last them long enough to build their home, something the husband can do himself, as he's skilled. Last winter, just before the house was complete, the entire home collapsed due to the heavy snow fall in Eastern Washington. They were completely devastated, and still pay on the loan they took out for supplies to build the home. They had no insurance.

Now the family, still living in the trailer that is falling apart, is fearing where they will live when it collapses this winter, something that will happen with certainty (you'll see why when you look at the pictures). This family is not lazy, they are incredibly unfortunate and have come upon hard times, really hard times.

The husband is capable of building a log cabin that will house them nicely. They are able to pull wood from the property, but need money for all the other expenses. They already have electricity and sewer from their home that fell down. They are confident that they can build a home for $ 5000.00. It's a lot of money, but it's nothing when you consider what it is providing...a warm, safe shelter for a family of 6.

Winter comes early in Eastern Washington, hence the dire urgency. If you can offer any help, it would not go unappreciated. My Mama's Love hopes to raise $5000.00 to deliver this family a happy ending soon.

Looking for a few people with acne

Do you suffer from acne or know someone who does? My Mama's Love is looking for before and after pictures for our website. We are looking for ten people to participate in our program.

The Acne Attack Kit has already been tested and the results are phenomenal. The problem is, we didn't take before and after pictures, just written testimonials. Now we need some pictures to add to our website to convince others of what we already know: the kit works!
